Malcolm Bordelon enters his 18th season with Sharks Sports & Entertainment (SSE) and the San Jose Sharks, his 16th as executive vice president of business operations. Bordelon previously served as vice president, broadcast and media marketing since joining the club in July 1994.

Bordelon, oversees all business operations for the Sharks, including broadcasting; marketing and digital media; ticket sales and service; fan development; media and public relations; and corporate partnerships, which includes suite sales and hospitality, and event presentation. He also oversees business operations for the Worcester Sharks, the club s American Hockey League affiliate. Furthermore, as a member of Senior Management, Bordelon is involved in review and pursuit of new business opportunities for SSE. In addition to overseeing the business operations of the Sharks, Bordelon has played a key role in developing and is also responsible for managing parts of SSE, which oversees the business operations of several entities across the United States.

In addition, SSE manages all or parts of several ice facilities in the Bay Area, including Sharks Ice at San Jose (the San Jose Sharks official training facility), Sharks Ice at Fremont and Oakland Ice Center operated by Sharks Ice. Sharks Ice at San Jose, one of only ten facilities in the United States with four or more NHL-size rinks, is the largest facility of its type under one roof west of the Mississippi River. The Sharks Ice family of ice rinks is home to the No. 1 ranked adult hockey league with over 4,500 registered adult players, according to USA Hockey.

Bordelon played an integral role in the planning and launch of the Sharks updated logo for the 2007-08 season as well as the team s 20th anniversary marks for 2010-11. Bordelon also worked closely with Reebok/CCM and the National Hockey League to develop and coordinate the launch of the Sharks new uniform for 2007-08 and has been a central figure in the concept, design and implementation of the Sharks third black jersey. In addition, Bordelon is the franchise contact for a number of NHL sponsorship, broadcasting and other business-related issues. In that capacity, he served as the team's primary contact and coordinator with the NHL for the 1997 All-Star Game as the Sharks and the City of San Jose played hosts to what has been called one of the most successful mid-season classics ever conducted. He also worked with the NHL as the club's main liaison for the Sharks two-game series vs. the Calgary Flames in GAME O N Japan, the NHL's kick-off weekend to the 1998-99 season in Tokyo. Bordelon played a similar coordination role working with the NHL on the Sharks 2010-11 season opening games in Stockholm, Sweden vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets as part of the NHL Premiere games in Europe as well as an exhibition match vs. the Mannheim Eagles at SAP Arena in Mannheim, Germany.

The Sharks have also made significant gains in corporate partnerships under Bordelon's direction, including the naming of HP Pavilion at San Jose and the club level of the facility as the Comerica Bank Club and Citrix Suites. Since he joined the organization, numerous Bay Area high-tech companies have made their first forays into sports sponsorship with the Sharks and other SVS&E properties.

Bordelon was named to the initial Steering Committee of the San Francisco Chapter of the National Sports Marketing Network (NSMN), an industry trade organization for sports business professionals. He served on the board of the San Jose Downtown Foundation and also served as the San Jose Downtown Association president in 1998 and 1999. Bordelon is a member of the American Leadership Forum-Silicon Valley, (Class XVIII), a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a better Silicon Valley community by joining and strengthening leaders to serve the public good.

Bordelon joined the Sharks after spending six years as director of sponsorship sales and promotions with the Indiana Pacers. Previously, he spent seven years within the advertising industry, including stints in media sales with Carlisle Outdoor Advertising and advertising agencies Ogilvy & Mather and Cunningham & Walsh, claiming numerous national and local awards and citations for outstanding creative and professional achievement.

A native of Houston, he graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in advertising. Upon his graduation, he was named the American Advertising Federation Outstanding Advertising Student and the Texas Tech School of Mass Communications Most Outstanding Student. In addition, on Oct. 16, 1999, Bordelon was awarded the "Outstanding Alumni of the School of Mass Communications" during Texas Tech's homecoming festivities.
