DID YOU KNOW?

Hispanics account for 50.5 million people in the U.S. (according to 2010 U.S. Census)

Latino population has increased 43% from 2000

Hispanics account for 56% of overall US population growth

THINK-TANK DISCUSSION WILL INCLUDE:

  • How does a marketer break down and target this audience by country of origin and acculturation? (The 2011 Horowitz Associates Focus Survey indicates that 18% of Latinos consider themselves "completely American" / 43% "completely Latino" / 39% "a mix")
  • What are sports brands (teams, leagues, broadcasters) doing to integrate Hispanic flavor into general market communications?
  • We will discuss the role and engagement of social media by the Hispanic audience. How are sports teams targeting this social media-savvy demographic?
  • We will discuss "micro-targets" and how place of origin helps to define sports fans.
  • How are brands looking at the Hispanic market differently? Has their perspective changed in the last 2 years based on the growing appreciation of the bilingual/bicultural Hispanic? (Turnkey's June 2011 study showed 42% of brands actively targeting the Hispanic consumer)
  • While marketers will say that Hispanic marketing is about cultural relevance, not language - determining what language to use in communications remains a challenge. How are you addressing as a marketer?
  • How does multi-cultural marketing fit within your current marketing plan? How do you engage senior management to allocate revenue?
  • We will discuss the fast-growing Mexican population as it continues to dominate the U.S. Speakers will discuss their brand & sports marketing strategies in Latin America.
  • Beyond soccer, what sports are key for the Hispanic sports fan and how are they engaging?
  • We will discuss the continued growth of multicultural business units within traditional sports marketing agencies and what this trend means for our industry.
