DISCUSSION TOPICS:
We will discuss the most current events of the NFL lockout – up to the news of the day.
- What is the economic impact of the lockout as it affects the game of play AND the business of sports?
- With a lockout, what is the impact on those who invest in sports and how are agencies, teams, brands and leagues preparing and implementing contingency plans?
- How does a lockout impact the agencies and teams - livelihood of accounts and staff?
- We will discuss the impact on licensing and retail promotions that activate around their league relationships. How does a brand reorganize its activation and still maximize their return?
- How does a lockout create major re-planning for a brand that uses activation via retail? What are the steps they need to take when a lockout is announced?
- More than $3 billion is spent in ad revenue dollars on network TV each year. We will discuss the impact of a lockout on a media campaign and how revenue is reallocated into a "plan B".
- From a programming standpoint, how will media properties prepare new content?
- How do leagues maintain sponsorship and fan relationships during a lockout?
- How will social media aid in keeping teams connected to teams, leagues and players?
- We will discuss sponsor case studies from the past NHL & MLB work stoppages.
- How do the leagues and teams handle staffing and re-staffing pre and post-lockout?
- What are the positive lessons learned by the sports business industry? And what would veterans of the NHL and MLB lockouts do differently?
- We will discuss the importance of post-lockout sponsorship activation.
- Who benefits of a lockout for smaller sponsors, event companies and media properties? What are the opportunities?
- How will sports arenas and facilities recoup the lost revenue and/or fill the building with events?
